Siam is my spot! It's conveniently located next to work, but it's also the best Thai massage I've had in the city (Anjalee is the runner-up). My go-to masseuse is Tanya, but I recently had Amber and she was amazing.
I've done the standard Thai massage as well as the Thai & oil one, and they were both phenomenal. They really know how to adjust the pressure to your liking and will check on you throughout. Booking a reservation online is easy, and they call you to confirm your appointment the day of. I'm also a big fan of the space and complimentary tea. Apparently, there are steam rooms in the back that I haven't taken advantage of.yet.:).
Massages are definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, and thanks to Jessica T for her recommendation, I now have a new favorite local business to visit when I am in San Francisco. Siam Orchid Traditional Thai Massage!
I've been several times and this place has not disappointed. While this business doesn't come with all of the frills you may find at a resort spa, they know what they are doing when it comes to giving quality massages. I recommend the 'Aroma Massage' although the name of it is a bit misleading as it's not necessarily about 'aroma,' but more of a balance of Swedish and Thai massage. The staff is friendly and professional. They will offer you hot tea upon arrival and after your service, and it's soothing and delicious. The facility is clean.
And as others mentioned, they also have a 'locker room' with showers you can use after your treatment. Pricing is moderate considering the way you feel when you leave here. This place is definitely a local gem worth visiting if you love massages as much as I do! Because what could I not love about this? --- --- --- It was the afternoon of day #2 of me being across the country for a work trip and personal vacation to Yosemite. I'm sitting at lunch and turned my head 3 inches to the left, only to feel a sharp and jarring pain in my neck.
For the rest of the day, I was in very uncomfortable pain, and extremely annoyed at the horrible timing of this random injury, as I was imagining the worst-case scenario for the rest of my time in California. Fortunately, when I searched Yelp for a massage place that was open late, I found Siam Orchid Thai Massage, with a 5-star average and over 200 reviews. Plus availability to take me the same night I called! I Ubered about a mile from where I was staying and arrived 20 minutes before my appointment.
After filling out the short paperwork, I was in the massage room immediately, and still 15 minutes before my appointment time - super convenient! I had a similar problem with my neck pop up about 9 months earlier in Hawaii (again, great timing) and found a place that offered Thai Massage/Ashiatsu right before I got on the plane to fly back to the mainland, and it really worked wonders for me. When I called to ask if they offered Ashiatsu, the woman on the phone told me no, which was funny because almost my entire massage ended up being just that. After my absolutely wonderful massage, I found immediate relief. Over the next few days, I was still a bit sore because she really beat me up and got in there deep, but the really uncomfortable pain was gone. I was able to get through my work conference, hike Yosemite, and sit on a plane for 6 hours back to Florida without a problem. My massage was so great, I might even make this an annual tradition when I'm visiting SF, whether I'm in pain or not!
We were searching for the Best Thai Massage in San Francisco and found Siam Orchid via Yelp. The reviews were spot on. Arriving a few minutes early and only a 10-15 minute walk from the Axiom Hotel, we filled in the necessary paperwork and waited in the comfortable wooden lobby area. The walls, floors, shelfs, desk, doors, etc. Were made from handcrafted wood. There were also Orchids everywhere and they offered us tea or water. We were escorted down a long dimly lit hallway to a room with two massage tables and instructed to get undressed and place our belongings in a small basket.
The space was not large, just right. The therapists came in shortly and proceeded to drench us in oil. We had scheduled two massages at the same time (not necessarily a couples massage) and wanted the Thai Swedish combo for $80 each. The Thai Swedish combo with Rainy was awesome. She massaged and pulled and stretched our arms and legs and even got on the massage table to work on my back. We had averaged 7-8 miles of walking in Nob Hill, Sausalito, Golden Gate Park and the Fisherman's Wharf areas and needed this before our flight home. Once the massage had almost ended, they each retrieved hot towels and wiped away the oil.
A nice but necessary touch because I don't think that they had showers available. We were blissed out and would definitely recommend this business. My go to for traditional Thai massages in the city. I typically go in for the Swedish Thai Massage which is pretty much what it sounds like: the first half is devoted to a traditional Thai treatment - great for relieving tightness and tension and pretty rigorous, and the second half for Swedish Fusion - soothing and warming with herbal oils. It's a great balance of intensity and relaxation after a long week of work.
I enjoy having the option to decompress in the steam room as well. I specifically chose to get Linda with the help of suggestions on Yelp and she's great to work with. I have a pretty positive impression of this spa.
The staff is very welcoming and accommodating to your health needs and will account for any injuries you may have, and you get to select an essential oil for your massage! The setting is peaceful, beautifully decorated and the bathroom facilities seem pretty clean and organized. The waiting room offers tea if you come a bit early. I'll definitely be back when I'm in need! Randomly found a good deal for 75$/1.5hr on LivingSocial, had no high hopes since it is been so hard for me to find anything remotely close to what I like when it comes to massage. Ended up really loving it!
I am somewhat petite of a person but I can take A LOT of pressure and so I did. Ting (I believe was her name) delivered it big time and I can not be happier.
Will come back soon! I had this bad sciatica going on for couple years and kind of got used to it/gave up on it at this point, but did it either go away or got significantly alleviated after one random Tai massage ses- is this even real??? I mean, It probably is just a coincidence (I'm sure it's not) and my masseuse just happened to stretch right muscle or something but boy do I feel much, much better! Tried number of chiros and being stretching on yoga mat for days- not even close to how I feel now!
CAN NOT wait to go back! 10/10 would recommend! My boyfriend and I came here with a Groupon. We thought we would be treated differently than regular paying customers, but nope! Kind and calming service as expected from a massage establishment. Though we bought 2 separate individual massages, our receptionist led us into a private 2 bed room meant for anniversaries and special occasions. What a nice experience.
The massage was thorough, but still well suited for first-time go-ers:) I would just comment on their XL clothing. Bring your own next time if you usually wear XS or S because parts of your body that you don't want slipping out/seen during the massage, will be lol. Oh, also their sauna/shower/bathroom area is completely gender-neutral. I've been coming here for a year now and every time, it's been superb!!
They bring me back to life after running, snowboarding, clubbing, whatever it is! I always get the thai package ($79 groupon) I've had sessions with Tanya, Linda, and Amber (in order of my preference.) Let me just say, they are NOT afraid to get comfortable with you. They are able to crack EVERYTHING. Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 Wia Driver Windows 7. I was basically folded like a pretzel and boy did it help. When you first walk in, you check in at the front desk where you fill in a small questionnaire and circle your problem areas on a chart. After a few minutes of waiting (they'll offer tea and water for you), you are brought into the room where you change into some jammies.
Feel free to go as bare-butt naked as you want. If you plan on using the steam room afterwards, definitely go full nude because you dont want the steam to soak your undies. Once you're changed and soaking in the tub, your instructor will come in and the magic starts.
If you get the package, the order goes foot massage, back massage, front massage, head massage, stretch, then steam room. After you're finished with the steam room, you can rinse off and freshen up in their showers/locker room. They provide 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, body wash, lotion, mouthwash, and even q-tips! I would highly suggest stocking up on their groupon discounts for the 90 min thai package. If you're lucky, there may be groupon discount codes (ex: WELCOME or TAKE10) you can use so that your massage will end up only $50-60! I heard that they do the special pricing ($79) even if you just ask them, but I've always just used groupons.
You also get an extra 6% cashback if you combine ebates with groupon.
